Robert. In light of the shameful acts in the seat of Lindsey and quite apart from LP being Brisbane based, don’t you think it might be of irnteest to the AEC. I appreciate your point about no evidence, but if the AEC can get the Feds irnteested enough to chase the Lindsey mob including a State Lib exec maybe the AEC would be partial to a wider inquiry.

        Hello Paul,

I know you already have answered this but I want confirm it. We have exchange 2010 Sp3. There is update rollup9. Can I install new Update without installing all other rollups.

And also is there any issue with RU9 ?

        Thanks for your help.

        Cheers,

Yes you can just install the latest update rollup.

No I’m not aware of any specific issues with RU9 but you should check the release notes, the comments on the Microsoft Exchange Team blog post for it, and also the TechNet forums to see if you can spot any common issues.

    Hi Amanda,

We had the same issue after applied SP3 Roll up 7. The solutions are:

    1. upgrade your Outlook to the latest services pack, say, Outlook 2007 SP3, Outlook 2010 SP2, Outlook 2013 with latest patches. This usually resolves the issue
    2. Disable automapping option once you granted users with full access permission with EMS shell.

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity JeroenC -User ‘Mark Steele’ -AccessRight FullAccess -InheritanceType All -Automapping $false

Note: We opened a support case with Microsoft, the support engineer cannot provide other fixes, etc. so we get the money back for the PSS call.

    Hope this helps

    1. Amanda

Thank you Harry. Your information helps alot as we were thinking of installing RU 7. Since that it also exist on this rollup then there will not be a point.

      regards,
      Amanda

Hi Paul, We are in a process of upgrading to SP 3 RU 6. however we have users that are reporting issues with Outlook 2010. Where they are getting an error that: cannot expand the folder. the set of folders cannot be opened. the attempt to log on to microsoft exchange has failed. On mailboxes they have fullAccess on. Are there any known issues/bugs with SP 3 RU6?

    Hi All,

We have recently installed Exchange 2010 SP3 Roll-up 6 on all exchange servers and we start facing issue of mail bouncing from a DL. We have one DL of around 2500 users and when any communication sent, sender is receiving delivery failure from 100 users with below error.

    ========================================================================
#554-5.6.0 Corrupt message content 554 5.6.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ConversionFailedException.ConversionFailedException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The message content has become corrupted. ConversionFailedException: Content conversion: Failed due to corrupt TNEF (violation status: 0x00002020) ##
    ========================================================================

We have mixed environment of Exchange 2003 & 2010. Earlier it was working fine but after exchange update it started giving issues.

    Any suggestion by anyone.

    Regards,
    Ashish

    Hi Paul,

I understand we should apply SP3 and/or its rollup 7 to Internet faced CAS first…

I don’t do CAS proxy, so all CAS are Internet faced. Questions are:

    1. We have F5 HW LB that load balance of two Internet faced CAS servers, there are several other Internet faced CAS standalone CAS servers that are not managed by F5 LB. some of just standby CAS servers, some of them are dedicated for BES use only. Can we update one of the standby CAS servers first to test it exclusively see if everything is OK. Then upgrade F5 CAS server farm later? Will this cause any potential issue.
    2. Rollup 7 for Exchange 2010 is out about one month ago. Is there any known issue if do SP3 upgrade with rollup 7 directly?

    Thanks,
    Harry

  7. Karl

After this update the Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe is using 50% of cpu power.
    Anyone else with this issue?

    Thx

  8. Jared

We applied this and Favorite folders that were not part of the users mailbox (other Shared Mailboxes) disappeared- not such a big issue but everyone had to re-add them again if they wanted someone elses inbox in their favorites for example, you come across this paul?

    Hello Paul,
    I have Exchange 2010SP2.
Can I install new EX2010SP3 RU6 and migrate the mailboxes into those new servers, and then remove the EX10SP2? and can they co-exist, or do I have to migrate everything in one shot?
Or do I have to upgrade the existing servers?

    Thanks
    Nir

Yes they can co-exist. A migration seems like the hard way of doing an upgrade though.

    Hi Paul.

We were installing SP3 on our Exchange 2010 enviroment yesterday, and was also applying RU6, but somehow the RU isnt installed onto our servers, we tried different work arounds we found on the internet, but it didnt work

It doesnt report any errors when we are installing.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    1. PS

      Hi Martin,

I have already updated 3 * SBS2011 servers with this and although the services took a while to start on 1, the others where no problem. All are using ForeFront for Exchange 2010 SP4.

Are you applying RU6 after SP3 or are you trying to apply it at the same time by putting in the Updates folder?

      1. Carol Ostos

        Hey Paul,

We are about to schedule upgrade from Exchange 2010 SP1 RU2 to SP3 RU6.
I’ll be restarting all the servers prior to the upgrade and will follow the suggested sequence/order. I’m keen on doing this in 2 steps (same day), first apply SP3, then apply RU6 . Would you recommend against this?

        Cheers
        Carol Ostos

Forgot to mention, we are still using FPE. Are you aware of any issues after applying SP3 RU6? Thank you!!!!

        2. Carol Ostos

Thank you for the quick response, I know! but as you can see we are already behind and needed to coordinate with my colleagues in other regions so everyone was comfortable with RU6

I haven’t heard of any issues with FPE and RU6 but to be honest I can’t think of the last time anybody mentioned using FPE to me, so it’s not something I’m likely to hear about issues with these days.

        4. Carol Ostos

Cool, no worries. Will keep on reading and hope for the best 😉
          Thanks again for your comments/suggestions
          Much appreciated!

  11. Bhushan Katariya

    Hello Paul,

We have Exchange 2010 SP3 with FPE 2010. We are thinking to deploy RU6 on all exchange servers but I see one comment in the below MS blog from GPNS that after installing RU6 Information store was not starting due to its integration with FPE.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/05/27/released-update-rollup-6-for-exchange-2010-service-pack-3.aspx

Can you please help us to avoid this ? Will it really affect to Forefront 2010 for Exchange ?

    Please suggest.

    Regards.
    Bhushan

    1. PS

      Hi Bhushan,

Sorry, the reply to Martin’s comment should have been directed at you.

      We are using ForeFront 11.0.727.0

    Hi Paul

I am planning to install the RU6 to an exchange 2010 SP3 environment. It is currently sitting at RU4. I plan to upgrade the estate in the sequence you suggested at the top of this post. We also have a satellite office in another country with a single point of failure multi role exchange server. Would you recommend that I update this first or would it be better to do the estate that has the roles separate like HT/CAS, MB and ET first?

    thanks

    scott

    1. Scott Thompson

Just to note the satellite office is not part of the DAG

    Hello,

I currently run Exchange 2010 SP3 ru2 but is wondering if I can go straight to ru5? We’re looking at installing ru6 at a later stage.

Yes, rollup updates are cumulative. You can deploy to the latest one without deploying each individual one.

  14. Chris

    Hello

I run at the moment a coexistence environment with exchange 2010 sp3 ru 5 and exch 2013 sp1.

Can I install the exch 2010 sp3 ru6 ? Or do I have to pay attention to anything before applying the update

Yes those versions can co-exist. I’m not aware of any specific concerns or bugs.
